You also only benefit from attack bonuses with offhand for your attributes, but not damage. So it does much less damage. With the Dual Wield Feat, you can dual wield any weapon, as long as they are not tagged as heavy. TBH assassin just feels kinda bad compared to theif. 2 bonus actions is super strong. Dual wielding in general is only useful in niche situations in BG3 because it consumes a bonus action, and there are tons of fun and useful things to do with your bonus action.
