The Marlin 39 series is a fine rifle, and in some respects possibly better than the 9422, but overall I will pick up the Winchester over the Marlin almost every time. The Winchester was a better made gun and more expensive to produce. Used 9422s are selling for more than a new Golden Boy and even more than a new Marlin 39A.
