It's enough to start it remotely but after it starts and the computer sees voltage too low it will stop the engine. If this is so you will throw a CEL and most likely the car will be in limp mode which means no remote start. If the remote start is factory installed then it is part of your keyfob. As far as operation that doesn't sound right. My fob has a seperate icon if you will for the remote start. It is a 3/4 circle with an arrow point at the right end and x2 in the middle meaning to press twice to start vehicle. Then again mine is an 08.
