Hey all, Im looking to install a Faria tach for my outboard. I purchased the Evinrude wiring harness that plugs right into the harness plug off of my throttle box. Easy enough right? What concerns me is that the Faria instructions say for an 88 and 112 hp a voltage regulator is recommended. It also says a system check tach or 2" gauge is REQUIRED.Re: 1988 evinrude 88hps lower unit stuck You might also attach the bolts loosely, start up the motor with the muffs on and shift from forward to reverse a few times and see if that jolts it loose. I have had a few of those, I would estimate around 5 US gallons per hour at around 3800-4000 rpm, assuming the thing will rev out to say 5200 rpm flat strap. They were not too bad on fuel, really. Pull the small primer hose off the hose barb on the top of the top carb. Turn the key to on, and push in on the key. If fuel pulses out of the end of the hose, the solenoid is working.
